Pernell Gerver's lecture and presentation entitled "The Many Uses of Herbs" describes how to create an herb garden that includes culinary, craft, and fragrance herbs. The culinary section describes common cooking herbs as well as some unusual culinary herbs. Culinary creations such as herbal vinegar and mustards are also mentioned. The herbal crafts portion of the program shows herbal decorations such as wreaths and other crafts created with herbs. The fragrance section details herbs grown for their aroma and how they can be used in creating potpourri. Along with common herbs, the more unusual, unique, and uncommon herbs are featured. Each herb is illustrated and described in detail along with its usage. Cultural instructions and proper growing conditions are discussed for each herb. Herbs suitable for windowsill growing are also featured. By choosing the right herbs, the program shows you how to create a successful, beautiful, and useful herb garden of your own. Included is a question & answer session after the program as well as a plant sale of rare, hard-to-find, and useful plants and gardening products.
