Crown of Thorns, Euphorbia miliiCrown of Thorns (Euphorbia milii) - to three feet, This shrubby plant is a very popular house plant. It has half-inch-thick stems that carry sharp spines that range in size but average three quarters of an inch long. It bears clusters of bright-green leaves borne near the tips of its stems. The colorful "flowers" are actually bracts surrounding the true flower. The bracts are either red or yellow and are held in clusters of up to six. The bracts bloom on two-inch-long flower stems that stand outward from its stems. It blooms from spring to fall, but will bloom all year long when grown in bright light.
