Zebra-leaf banana

Zebra-leaf banana leaf

Zebra-leaf Banana (sun to part shade): 60", Bears very-large, lance-shaped leaves that can easily reach several feet long or more. What's so stunning about its foliage is the deep-maroon markings on its leaves. Each leaf is splashed and striped with irregular markings that really stand out against its bright-green leaves. The markings are reminiscent of the stripes on a zebra, hence its name. The enormous leaves emerge from a thick central trunk and are carried opposite one another along the trunk. New leaves appear from the tip of the trunk and are tightly curled and held upright. The leaf then slowly unfurls and as it matures is eventually held horizontally. The leaves form many tiers as the plant grows giving it a layered look. A dwarf form, growing just five to 10 feet tall. At maturity, the plant will bear fruit and you can pick your very own garden-grown bananas! A live plant in a 3" pot - $15 each or 3 for $42.75 - You save $2.25!
