Powder Puff PlantPowder Puff Plant (Calliandra haematocephala) - to 3 feet tall, It bears rounded two- to three-inch-wide eye-catching flowers that really do resemble a powder puff. Each flower is composed of hundreds of slender, bright-red stamens that seem to explode out from the center of the flower, creating the fluffy, powder-puff effect. The flowers are very soft to the touch. They’re borne singly at the tips of its numerous branches. It begins forming flower buds during the shortening days of fall and blooms from early winter right through spring at a time when flowers are truly appreciated. It produces dozens and dozens of striking flowers over its long bloom season. Even young plants less than a foot tall produce blooms, making it a very rewarding house plant at any age. Powder puff plant grows upright and is multibranched, forming a small shrubby plant at maturity. When grown in a pot, it reaches two to four feet high and wide and its size can be controlled by pruning. A live plant in a 3" pot - $20 each or 3 for $57.00 - You save $3.00!
