In mid to late summer, an 18-24" flower stalk appears above bare ground with no warning. It bears a cluster of trumpet-shaped, lily-like, rosy-lavender flowers that are three to four inches long. Each flower cluster carries four to seven flowers. The flowers have a sweet fragrance. Foliage appears in spring and is up to a foot long and one to two inches wide. Foliage goes dormant in summer.
